Real-Time Drone Tracker

Real-Time Drone Tracker is a web-based monitoring platform designed to display drone locations and operational data in real time. The system combines Firebase Realtime Database with interactive mapping technologies to give users a clear overview of drone activity, flight information and surrounding weather conditions.

The problem

What needed to change

Drone operators need a centralised and easy-to-understand interface for monitoring drone locations, system information and environmental conditions. When this information is separated across different systems, it becomes difficult to understand the overall operational situation.

The solution

How I approached it

I developed a web dashboard that combines real-time drone information with an interactive map. Firebase Realtime Database handles live data updates, while mapping services provide location visualisation, terrain information and weather-related data.

Challenges

Working through constraints

  • Updating drone locations without requiring users to refresh the page
  • Displaying live drone information clearly on an interactive map
  • Integrating multiple mapping and weather-related services
  • Maintaining responsive performance across desktop and mobile devices
  • Structuring the data so more drones can be supported in the future

Outcomes

What the work achieved

  • Created a functional real-time drone monitoring demonstration
  • Connected Firebase Realtime Database to the frontend interface
  • Displayed drone positions through interactive mapping technologies
  • Prepared the architecture for additional drones and monitoring features
